Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ, thank you for prayerfully considering your support for the mission of God through St. Luke’s ministries in 2018. Please return your pledge form and questionnaire by Sunday, December 3rd. We will bless our commitments and give thanks for our gifts during the worship service.

Advent Wreath-Making
Come make an advent wreath for your table Sunday December 3 at 9:00 in the Guild Hall. This is a wonderful tradition that helps us to reflect on the meaning of the season as we prepare for the coming of Christmas.

Creative Hands, Christmas Wreath Fundraiser
All are welcome to join us, regardless of ability!
Saturday, December 2nd, 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. – Christmas Wreath Decorating
We’ll get fresh green wreaths for decorating and then auctioning off at coffee hour on Sunday the 3rd. We’ll have supplies to decorate with, but donations are always appreciated.  Bring the kids to this one – the more the merrier!

Christmas Adopt a Family Project
This year we will assemble Christmas boxes for each of the Koangs. Each box will contain an age appropriate present, a book, a stocking with stocking stuffers, and 3 ornaments. Details to follow soon.

Christmas Eve Family Service with Pageant, December 24th, 4:30 p.m.

Traditional Christmas Eve Mass with Holy Eucharist, Carols at 9:30 followed by Christmas Mass at 10:00 p.m.

Christmas Day, Holy Eucharist Service at 10:00 a.m.Epiphany, January 6th, 2018, The Blessing of Homes during the day followed by a traditional Epiphany Celebration at 5:30 p.m.

Winter Women’s Shelter

During the cold, rainy season this winter, St. Luke’s will partner with Fourth and Hope, the other members of Woodland Ecumenical and Multi-faith Ministries (WEMM), The City of Woodland and Yolo County to provide a winter shelter for women and families. This will allow Fourth and Hope to allocate more of their space to men. The Shelter will be hosted by St. Luke’s from January 7th – February 4th. Volunteers from local faith and civic organizations will staff the shelter. Volunteers are crucial to the success of this program. To sign up for a shift, please go to

Save The Date – Mardi Gras at St. Luke’s, Feb. 10, 2018 

A Fundraiser to support the Women’s Shelter and Mission Initiatives
Mark your calendars for our first annual Mardi Gra Celebration with creole culinary delights, pancake races, a Mardi Gra Parade and dancing to New Orleans Jazz! The funds raised from this event will support the Women’s Winter Shelter and other mission initiatives of St. Luke’s. All ages are welcome.There will be a role for everyone and we need your help to make this event a great success. Many thanks to Karen Poquette for chairing this event. During December the group will meet at St. John’s 432 Cleveland Street, Woodland.

Sunday December 3rd 1:30-4:30 we will be at the Woodland Opera House for a performance of  “It’s A Wonderful Life”!  Snacks will be provided.

Our lesson will be about: Heresy… is it a good or a bad thing or both? Was Jesus even considered a Heretic in his day? And we will talk about the continually evolving Church!

Sunday December 17th  6:00-8:00 we will meet at St. John’s for an evening walk to Nugget.  Then at St. John’s, we will be making Gingerbread Houses!
Our lesson will be about:  The Miracle of the Birth and life of Christ in our physical world, how on Earth did it happen, and where is He now?
